The Basilica-Cathedral of Saint-Michel de Sherbrooke stands in Quebec, Canada. It serves as the seat of the Archdiocese of Sherbrooke. This archdiocese also includes the dioceses of Nicolet and Saint-Hyacinthe. In addition, the cathedral is the regimental church of the 52nd Field Ambulance.

The building rises from the Saint-Michel cliff in downtown Sherbrooke. Architect Louis-Napoléon Audet designed it with Gothic inspiration. Moreover, he based its design on Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. The two large front towers reflect this influence. However, the construction remained unfinished. Due to financial limits, two smaller towers were never built.

In 1959, Bishop Georges Cabana made a request to Rome. As a result, Pope John XXIII raised the cathedral’s status. On July 31, 1959, it officially became a minor basilica.
