The Monastery of Saint Benedict (Mosteiro de São Bento) is a key religious landmark in São Paulo, Brazil. It was founded on July 14, 1598. For over four centuries, it has influenced the city’s spiritual and cultural life. Between 1910 and 1914, the current church building took shape. The German architect Richard Berndl designed it. This building represents a major architectural achievement in the city.

Currently, about 45 monks live in the monastery. They celebrate the Divine Office in the monastic rite and also hold Mass in the Roman rite. Both ceremonies include Gregorian chant, adding to the spiritual atmosphere of the basilica.

The monastery attracts many visitors due to its spiritual and cultural significance. In May 2007, it gained international attention when it welcomed Pope Benedict XVI. His visit marked an important moment for both the monastery and the city.
