The Basilica of Our Lady of the Mount is a Roman Catholic church in Bandra, Mumbai, India. Firstly, people usually call it Mount Bandra or Mount St Mary Church. Historically, the church received special recognition in the year nineteen fifty four. At that time, Pope Pius the Twelfth granted official permission to crown the Marian statue. On the twenty first of October, Cardinal Giovanni Battista Montini signed and approved the decree. Subsequently, church authorities organized a grand ceremony in Mumbai. On the fifth of December, Cardinal Valerian Gracias led the coronation. Therefore, this event greatly increased the spiritual importance of the shrine for devotees.
