The Basilica of Our Lady Help of Christians in Filipov is a striking neo-Romanesque church. It includes a Redemptorist college and stands on the site of a Marian miracle confirmed by the Catholic Church in 19th-century Bohemia. The Jiříkov parish manages its spiritual activities. This shrine ranks among the most famous pilgrimage destinations in Bohemia. Although young compared to other Marian shrines, it holds a special place in the Litoměřice diocese. The basilica lies directly on the Czech-German border, with the college’s wall separating the two countries.

Construction took place between 1873 and 1886. Builders honored the Philippian miracle, which happened on the night of January 12–13, 1866. At 4 a.m., Magdalena Kadeová experienced a miraculous healing. Word of this event spread rapidly, attracting many pilgrims over the years. In 1926, the church was designated a minor basilica. Since then, it has become the most visited pilgrimage site in the diocese, surpassing even the Basilica of St. Sudeten. Local leaders continue to promote the basilica’s spiritual importance.

Besides its religious significance, the basilica represents an important cultural monument. It is one of the key sacred sites in Bohemian-Saxon Switzerland.
