Vézelay Abbey (French: Abbaye Sainte-Marie-Madeleine de Vézelay) is a Benedictine and Cluniac monastery in Yonne, France. Built between 1120 and 1150, the abbey’s church, now the Basilica of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine, is a masterpiece of Burgundian Romanesque art and architecture. The church features intricate sculpted capitals and portals that reflect the era’s religious and artistic depth.

In addition to its architectural significance, Vézelay holds great importance in medieval Christianity. It housed the relics of Mary Magdalene, drawing countless pilgrims to its doors.
