The Cathedral of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross stands proudly on Katedralna Street in Opole, Poland. It is both a Roman Catholic parish church and a cathedral. Furthermore, it belongs to the parish of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in the Opole Deanery. It also forms part of the Opole Diocese.
On April 3, 1964, the cathedral entered the register of monuments of the Opole Voivodeship. This important step helped secure its protection, ensuring its historical value remains intact for future generations.
The current church was built in the 15th century. It stands on the site of earlier churches dating back to the 11th and 13th centuries. Over the years, the church underwent numerous reconstructions, each adding its own unique touch to the overall design.
