The Basilica of St. John the Baptist (German: Basilika St. Johannes der Täufer), also known as Saarbrücken Basilica, stands in the market of St. John (St. Johannes) in Saarbrücken, Germany. During the Reformation, a noble Protestant administered the temple of St. John. At that time, Catholics who remained faithful to their religion could use only one chapel, the Chapel of St. John. However, as the Catholic population grew in the eighteenth century under the French government of Louis XIV, the community decided to build a larger place of worship.

The growing Catholic population financed the construction of the new basilica, which began between 1754 and 1758. Friedrich Joachim Stengel, the architect, designed the basilica on the site of the former chapel. The basilica quickly became a central place for Catholic worship in Saarbrücken.

Over the years, the basilica underwent several changes. It faced periods of destruction, but the community worked to restore it. From 1972 to 1975, the interior was redesigned to reflect its original baroque style. In 1962, Pope Paul VI named it a basilica, recognizing its importance to the local community.

Today, the Basilica of St. John is part of a parish that includes five churches. In addition to regular Catholic masses, the basilica hosts organ concerts. These concerts attract both locals and visitors, making the basilica a vibrant center for cultural and religious life in Saarbrücken. Through this blend of worship and cultural events, the basilica continues to serve as an important landmark in the city.
