The Basilica of St. James in Straubing, Germany, is the largest Gothic hall church in the city. It was built around 1400 under the direction of master builder Hans von Burghausen. Initially a collegiate church, it became more significant in 1581. During the Counter-Reformation, the Pfaffenmünster Canonry transferred to St. James, and Saint Tiburtius became its second patron saint.
The basilica has a three-aisled nave surrounded by 20 side chapels, completed around 1512. These additions enhance the church's grandeur and complexity. Additionally, the church underwent significant renovations beginning in the early 2000s. After 18 years of work, the restoration finished in 2016.
