St. Peter's Cathedral, or Wormser Dom, stands as a Roman Catholic church in Worms, southern Germany. The cathedral rises at the highest point of the city, making it the most important Romanesque structure in the region. Bishop Burchard played a key role in its development during the 12th and 13th centuries when Worms reached its historical peak. For centuries, it served as the seat of the Catholic Prince-Bishopric of Worms, until German mediatisation dissolved the bishopric in 1802. Afterward, the church became a parish church, though Pope Pius XI granted it the title of minor basilica in 1925.

By 1181, builders had nearly completed most of the cathedral. However, the west choir and vaulting were finished in the 13th century. Later, in the 14th century, artisans added the ornate south portal. The central dome underwent several reconstructions throughout the cathedral's history to maintain its grandeur.

The cathedral witnessed many key events. In 1048, the church hosted the election of Pope Leo IX. In 1122, it became the venue for the Concordat of Worms, resolving the Investiture Controversy. In 1235, Emperor Frederick II married Isabella of England at the cathedral. The Diet of Worms in 1521 also took place here, where Martin Luther faced condemnation as a heretic.
