The Basilica of St. John the Baptist, also called the Basilica of St. John the Baptist Patron of Breslau, stands as a key Catholic cathedral in Berlin. It is located in the Neukölln district and serves as the seat of the Military Ordinariate of Germany. The church's construction began in 1894 when the first stone was laid. The architect, August Menken, designed the church in the Romanesque style, inspired by the Rhine region. On May 8, 1897, the church opened with a grand ceremony attended by Emperor William II and Empress Augusta Victoria.
The church quickly gained recognition for its significance. On December 3, 1906, Pope Pius X granted the church the title of Minor Basilica.
