Entrevaux Cathedral, known in French as Cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption d’Entrevaux, stands as an important Roman Catholic church in Entrevaux. The church reflects the religious history of the region and connects closely with the former Diocese of Glandèves. Earlier, the bishops of Glandèves maintained their episcopal seat in Glandèves. However, political changes and security concerns encouraged church leaders to move their main residence to Entrevaux during the early seventeenth century. Consequently, Entrevaux became the new administrative and religious center of the diocese.

Soon afterward, the church in Entrevaux gained greater recognition within the region. In 1624, church authorities officially recognized the building as the cathedral of the diocese. Because of that decision, people also referred to it as Glandèves Cathedral.

During this period, bishops organized major ceremonies, religious gatherings, and administrative meetings inside the cathedral. Clergy, residents, and travelers often gathered there for worship and important celebrations. As a result, the cathedral gradually became a symbol of regional faith and unity.

Furthermore, the church strengthened the spiritual life of the community. Local believers regularly attended services and festivals at the cathedral. The building therefore played a central role in shaping religious traditions in the surrounding region.

However, major political and ecclesiastical reforms changed the cathedral’s status in the late eighteenth century. In 1790, new reforms reorganized church administration across France. Because of these reforms, the cathedral lost its position as the diocesan seat.

Today, the historic church continues to serve the people of Entrevaux as a parish church. It also preserves the legacy of the former Diocese of Glandèves and the long Christian heritage of the region.
