Basilica of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, Teresin k. Sochaczewa, Poland
The Parish of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary operates at the Franciscan monastery in Niepokalanów. Its seat stands at 5 St. Maksymilian Kolbe Street in the nearby village of Paprotnia. From the beginning, this parish has grown steadily, and therefore it serves as a vital center for worship and community life. Moreover, it continues to deepen the faith of many local and visiting believers.
Initially, Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński established the parish on June 27, 1950. At that time, he appointed Father Jerzy Domański as the first parish priest. Consequently, Father Domański worked tirelessly to build a strong parish community. Over the years, the parish expanded, and it welcomed more people. As a result, the parish grew both spiritually and socially. Today, Father Andrzej Sąsiadek serves as the parish priest, and he leads nearly 7,500 parishioners as of 2022. Furthermore, his leadership maintains an active and engaged parish life.
Regarding the parish church, it serves as a minor basilica, which the community built between 1948 and 1954. Hence, this church stands as a magnificent symbol of faith and hope. In addition to the main basilica, the parish includes the Niepokalanów chapel-sanctuary dedicated to St. Maximilian Kolbe. This saint inspires many with his life of sacrifice. Besides that, the parish also oversees the branch chapel of Blessed Rafał Chyliński located in Budki Piaseckie, providing spiritual support to parishioners there.
Therefore, through its rich history, dedicated clergy, and multiple chapels, the Parish of the Immaculate Conception fosters faith and devotion continuously. Thus, it remains a growing and welcoming community in Niepokalanów and the surrounding villages.
